University of California, Riverside, has recently brought together its three premier art institutions to create a new cultural complex: UCR ARTSblock. ARTSblock is composed of the California Museum of Photography, the Sweeney Art Gallery, and the Barbara and Art Culver Center of the Arts. Located on a single block in adjacent historical buildings in downtown Riverside, easily accessible to the public as well as the campus, ARTSblock's mission is to provide a cultural presence, educational resource, community center and intellectual meeting ground for the university and the community.
ARTSblock's programs investigate the art of our time, media arts, and the history and practice of photography through exhibitions, performances, screenings, workshops, artist residencies, permanent collections, and creative laboratories. ARTSblock presents significant national and international art and photography, and showcases UCR student artwork and regional artists.
ARTSblock's activities embody University of California, Riverside's commitment to broadly-based public education and cutting-edge research. ARTSblock offers innovative programs that engage diverse audiences, nourish the imagination and challenge assumptions.

The International Center of Photography (ICP) is the world’s leading institution dedicated to the practice and understanding of photography and the reproduced image in all its forms. Through our exhibitions, educational programs, and community outreach, we offer an open forum for dialogue about the role images play in our culture. Since our founding, we have presented more than 500 exhibitions and offered thousands of classes, providing instruction at every level. ICP is a center where photographers and artists, students and scholars can create and interpret the world of the image within our comprehensive educational facilities and archive.
Key Milestones
1966: Cornell Capa establishes the International Fund for Concerned Photography in the memory of his brother Robert Capa, a war photographer.
1974: Cornell founds the International Center of Photography, located in the historic Willard Straight House at 1130 Fifth Avenue at East 94th Street in New York.
1983: A full-time Documentary Photography and Photojournalism Program is created.
2000: ICP's Midtown site reopens and becomes the headquarters of ICP's exhibitions programs. The new ICP also includes an expanded store and café.
2001: The School of the International Center of Photography opens across from the museum at 1114 Avenue of the Americas in New York. The new 27,000-square-foot school facility doubles ICP's teaching space and expands programming and community outreach.
2003: The ICP-Bard MFA Program in Advanced Photographic Studies is established.

The Royal Photographic Society

The Royal Photographic Society is an Educational Charity promoting both the art and science of photography. Membership is open to all, whatever level of experience or knowledge. No qualifications are required to join, just a passion and love for one or more of photography’s myriad of genres, technologies and applications.
Most of our members join to further their own photography and to embrace the challenge of working towards our world recognized Distinctions (LRPS, ARPS and FRPS) and Imaging Science Qualifications (QIS, GIS, AIS and ASIS).
By attending Society National, Regional and Group Events, our members enjoy unparalleled opportunities to share knowledge, meet and learn from other photographers and to develop their photographic interests and skills.
Open International Print and Projected Image Exhibitions are held annually alongside an Audio Visual Festival and members’ exhibitions.
The Royal Photographic Society is well respected for its outstanding achievement in Education. Although the majority of its work focuses on supporting and organising practical workshop and lectures it also organises community projects and work in schools and colleges.
Our internationally renowned Awards are presented annually, recognising the highest achievements in all fields of photography - Albert Watson HonFRPS and Annie Liebovitz HonFRPS being recent Centenary Medal recipients.
The Society has a long and proud History, established as The Photographic Society in 1853 in the pioneering days of photography, it became Royal by decree in 1894 and in 2004 it was presented with a Royal Charter. The Society’s Collection of priceless photographs and historical items is now housed at the National Media Museum, for the Nation.

Société française de photographie

Fondée à Paris en 1854 par un groupe de scientifiques, d’amateurs et d’artistes, reconnue d’utilité publique en 1892, la Société française de photographie (SFP) est la plus ancienne société de photographes encore en activité. Édifiée dans le but de promouvoir la photographie, ses améliorations et ses usages, la SFP se présente dès l'origine comme un organisme permettant de receuillir et de diffuser tous types de documents et d'archives sur l'activité photographique. Ainsi, parallèlement à ses réunions hebdomadaires, la SFP a publié dès 1855 un mensuel consacré à la photographie – le Bulletin de la SFP – et organise dès cette même année la première d'une longue série d'expositions de renommée internationale.
Aujourd'hui association loi 1901, la SFP, hébergée par la Bibliothèque nationale de France depuis 1993, se présente comme un centre de recherche et de ressources sur l'histoire et les développements de l'image photographique. Elle conserve et administre une collection unique au monde, classée Monument Historique, constituée par dons dès son origine et qui récèle notamment quelques incunables de l'histoire de la photographie et de nombreux appareils anciens. La SFP conserve également une bibliothèque riche de plus de 12 000 volumes consacrés à la photographie historique et contemporaine, dont environ 500 collections de périodiques français et étrangers. Elle réunit également de nombreux travaux universitaires consacrés à la photographie. La SFP est la plus importante collection privée spécialisée sur la photographie.
Poursuivant son rôle de diffuseur en matière de recherche sur la photogaphie et son histoire, la SFP est l'éditeur depuis 1996 de la revue Études photographiques qui deux fois par an publie des articles de pointe par des chercheurs français et étrangers. La revue est depuis mai 2009 en édition bilingue avec le concours de l'Université de Ryerson à Toronto (Canada).
Enfin, l’association soutient la création contemporaine. Elle programme un cycle de production et d’exposition d’œuvres dans sa vitrine, réalisées en partenariat avec le laboratoire Janvier et Les Ateliers de L’Image collée. La SFP organise également des entretiens publics avec des photographes depuis plusieurs années. Pour 2011-2012, La Maison du Geste et de l’Image (Paris) accueille la SFP, en partenariat avec l’équipe d’accueil HiCSA de l'Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Les entretiens sont filmés et mis en ligne sur par le Magazine en ligne du Jeu de Paume.
La Société française de photographie est aujourd'hui présidée par Paul-Louis Roubert.
